Product Usage Tips

While it can depend on several factors, a good rule of thumb to follow is outlined below. And when in doubt, apply thinnest to thickest! 

Morning Routine:

Most products can be applied back to back without any issues!

The safest way to incorporate new products into your routine is by adding them one at a time. This allows your skin to more easily adjust to the products and also avoids confusion about what product could be causing a particular skin response. Let your skin adjust to the product for 1-2 weeks before adding in another product.

  • Retinoids: pea-sized amount at night

  • Tonic: quarter sized amount

  • Cleanser: nickel sized amount

  • Eye cream: pea sized amount

  • Serum: 3-5 drops

  • Moisturizer: quarter sized amount

  • Sunscreen: two finger lengths for the face and neck

 

Purging is SO normal! It’s never fun, but it’s worth the end results. Purging is a temporary  flare-up of acne that can occur shortly after starting a product that increases cell turnover such as retinoids or exfoliating acids. It typically lasts 6-8 weeks, but is well worth the clear, bright skin that follows!

If your skin is red, flaky, and/or irritated after starting a new product, you are probably experiencing a compromised skin barrier as a result of over-exfoliation. In other words, you’re using a product or products more often than your skin can tolerate. This does not mean you can’t tolerate the product, just that you can’t tolerate the product as frequently as you were using it when it occurred. When this happens, stop all of your skin actives (such as exfoliants,  acids, retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, etc.) until your skin feels back to normal. Once your skin has normalized, you can slowly add your actives back into your routine but slightly less frequently than you were doing before.

If your skin stings or burns when applying your skincare products, you are probably experiencing a compromised skin barrier which can be caused by factors such as over-exfoliation, change in climate, and allergens, just to name a few. In order to restore your skin barrier,  stop all of your skin actives (such as exfoliants,  acids, retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, etc.) and apply soothing and hydrating ingredients such as ceramides and lipids, both of which can be found in our best seller Cream de la Blair. Once your skin has normalized and you’re no longer experiencing any burning or stinging,  slowly reintroduce your other products back into your routine.

Unless you’re pregnant or nursing, your skincare routine should include a retinoid! Retinoids are an umbrella term that encompasses retinol, retinaldehyde, and retinoic acid – they are the most anti-aging products on the market that do everything from reducing fine lines and wrinkles, minimizing pore size, reducing clogged pores and blackheads, improving skin texture, and reducing hyperpigmentation – just to name a few! Sunscreen, Vitamin C, and a Retinoid! These are the three products that EVERYONE needs in their routine. If you have absolutely nothing else, be sure you have these three things! If you want to know more about the Key 3 than the information included here, check out this blog post!

  1. Sunscreen: Apply to full face and neck every morning (rain or shine!) and reapply every 2 hours. 
  2. Vitamin C:  Apply to full face and neck every morning. Vitamin C and sunscreen together give 11x more protection for aging than sunscreen alone!
  3. Retinoid: Apply to full face and neck at night after cleansing. Retinoids are basically the anti-aging miracle worker - for more information on why you need a retinoid and what it does for the skin, check out this blog post!

Since Tonic contains a blend of AHA/BHA skin acids,  we recommend taking caution when first starting this product. 

  • If you have dry or sensitive skin, we recommend starting out using it once every 2-3 days. If you’re tolerating it well, slowly increase to once a day.

  • If you have normal or combination skin, we recommend starting out using it once every other day. If you’re tolerating it well, you can increase frequency to once a day.

  • If you have oily skin, we recommend starting out using it once a day. If you’re tolerating it well, you can increase frequency to twice a day.

 

Since Brightening Facial Wash contains glycolic and salicylic acid, we recommend taking caution when first starting this product.

Orders received before 11:00 am EST Monday through Thursday are shipped out the same day. Any orders received after this time will be shipped out the following business day and shipping times will vary according to the carrier and destination.

If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your order, we are happy to offer a store credit on all full-priced items returned to us within 14 days of purchase provided they are in their original packaging, unopened and unused condition. All discounted products or purchases during a promotion are final sale. We do not offer exchanges at this time. All items are inspected upon receipt and we reserve the right to deny exchanges that do not meet eligibility. Return shipping fees are the responsibility of the customer and will be deducted from your total store credit.

To initiate a return, please  email info@skinbyblair.com with your order number, product, and reason for return. Please note that we can only process a return if it meets our Return Policy criteria outlined above.

While we currently only ship within the US, we are hoping to extend to other countries in the near future!

If you are local and would like to pick up your order at our office located at 512 East Blvd,  you can select “in-store pick-up” at checkout and you will receive an email when your order is ready for pick up!

It has been our experience with shipping carriers  that “delivered” is not always accurate and can actually occur several days later. Subscriptions are the most convenient (and cost effective!) way to ensure your favorite products are delivered to your doorstep exactly when you need them. Simply choose 'Subscribe & Save' and select your desired delivery frequency for each of your favorite products. We’ll do the rest!

Yes! If you have too much product on hand, we offer flexibility to skip as many non-consecutive orders as you need! Simply log into your account, select ‘Manage Subscriptions’, navigate to ‘See More Details’ on the subscription you wish to skip, and select ‘Skip Order’. It’s that easy!

The initial charge will occur at the time of purchase, and all subsequent charges will follow the frequency that you selected when initiating your subscription.

Yes, you can! After logging into your account, select ‘Manage Subscriptions’, choose the subscription you wish to edit, and select ‘Edit Frequency’ to update your desired delivery date.

To change your shipping address on existing subscriptions, simply log into your account, select ‘Manage Subscriptions’ and click on the subscription you wish to change. From there, scroll down to ‘Shipping Info’ and update your address accordingly.

You can freely edit your subscription or add a new product to your recurring order at any time using your customer portal. If you are hoping to switch from one product subscription to another, you will have to cancel your existing subscription and start a new one for that product.

However, there is no limit to the number of products you can include in your subscription. Subscribe to your whole routine to keep your skin happy, healthy, and glowing!

 

You can make adjustments to your subscription up to 3 days before your next scheduled shipment date. We will send you an email reminder before each delivery so you have the opportunity to make changes to the delivery date, frequency, or address as needed!

Yes – and they will love you for it! Gift subscriptions can be ordered the exact same way you order a product for yourself. Just select your desired delivery frequency and add the subscription to your cart. Be sure to enter the shipping address of your gift recipient at checkout!

To update your billing information, simply log into your account, select ‘Manage Subscriptions’ and click on the subscription you wish to change. From there, scroll down to ‘Billing Info’ and update your payment information accordingly.
